Painting 3d Model Texture With GIMP

I hated texturing models as i couldn't get good results.

even after a lot of trials and reading online tutorials.

I needed to make the unwrapped image of my character painted using GIMP.but when using the normal brush i get solid diffusion colors which are not realistic

Further,i tried SSS (Subsurface Scattering) and tried to add the Ambient occlusion map but without satisfied result...

So, i went back to the basics of painting with GIMP...

How to simulate oil painting ?

Surprisingly,the results were very good and very simple...
